With the potential of the metaverse, non-fungible tokens and NFTs to provide new interactive avenues for companies and consumers to connect with them, more companies are continuing to embrace the sector with the intention to launch new products.
LG, the electronics giant, is the latest to make a focus on metaverse. It has now filed trademarks for non-fungible tokens. Michael Kondoudis, a licensed trademark attorney, shared the trademark application via Twitter on July 19.
L.G. appears to have filed an NFT application on July 14, indicating that L.G. L.G. plans to offer T.V. software to issue and trade NFTs, software that facilitates crypto transactions and NFTs, software to digital token brokerage and wealth management.
According to the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), LG will also provide ewallet payment services and software that allows for the exchange of electronic money in metaverse.

LG’s inroads into NFTs
L.G. L.G. had previously released products related to the NFT sector. In May, the company indicated that it was working with new media artist Refik Anadol to display NFT artwork on the company’s transparent OLED TVs. The company stated that the NFT collection uses audio, video, and health data.
Samsung, another South Korean giant in electronics, also announced new products under NFTs. Samsung created an NFT platform to allow consumers to purchase NFTs via their T.V.s.
Another notable application is eBay (NASDAQ:EBAY), which offers NFT exchanges and NFT trade, virtual goods marketplaces and online retail stores with physical or virtual goods.
Finbold reported that Mastercard International Inc., a global payment facilitator, is now reporting on Mastercard International Inc. (NYSE : M.A.). The company also aims to offer a variety of products in the metaverse.
Global brands of all sizes have indicated that they are seeking to enter the metaverse via trademark applications. According to a Finbold report in the USA, there were more than 4,000 NFT-related trademarks filed between January 1, 2022, and May 31, 2022.
