Mihailo Bjelic is the co-founder and CEO of the blockchain platform Polygon. He tweeted reasons why his team chose proof-based zero-knowledge solutions (ZK) and how it is faring. Bjelic stated that ZK solutions were popular and that he was just writing to quell the curiosity.
We get a lot of questions about why @0xPolygon has so many zk teams/efforts. 🤔
Here’s a short explanation of why we chose this strategy, and how it is working so far.

Bjelic stated that he was certain that ZK solutions would make a big impact on their business when he first introduced them over a year ago. Bjelic also desired to seek out the Holy Grail, the EVM and compatible ZK solution, even though he knew it wouldn’t be easy to achieve in a short amount of time.
To achieve the desired goal, teams needed to think from many angles and use as many hands possible. Polygon then enlisted the help of Zero (ex Mir), Miden, and Hermez.
Bjelic added:
Zero achieved amazing optimizations with the help of the Helping Hands and a new approach to delivering Holy Grail. Miden was a deeply skilled STARK expert, while Hermez was shipping-oriented.
Bjelic believes that the result of the collaboration was the innovation of zkEVM, the world’s first full-featured zkEVM implementation, which was delivered in one year instead of the five-year anticipation.
Bjelic expressed his appreciation for the motivational drive of teams to create their ideas and Polygon did its best to encourage cooperation between them. He believes the project has achieved its mainnet stage because of their mutual cooperation.
Bjelic concluded the thread by saying that this was just the beginning of the milestones he aims to reach. Bjelic has a clear roadmap set for the next one to two years, and can clearly see how his teams’ efforts in ZK will shortly converge and fit together.
Zero-knowledge (ZK), proof-based scaling solutions are solutions that use mathematics to produce concise proofs that transaction validity can be validated by anyone, even Ethereum miners.
